HAD 522 – Health Care Operations and Quality Management
Process Improvement Project Description and Rubric
This is an individual project in which the student will create a GANTT chart for and apply one other project management related tool (the creation of a Project Charter is included in the assignment and may not be used as the second tool)to the following. [You may make assumptions as necessary ; however, you must provide the reasoning behind your assumptions.]
You have recently been hired as the new Assistant Director of Project Management for We Treat Everyone Health System (WTEHS). This is new position based out of the corporate office. You have been assigned to manage the completion of the new KUC Outpatient Pavilion within Hope Hospital. You are given the following information.
You arrive at Hope Hospital after an awful car ride, due to an accident in a construction zone, two hours later than you had planned and have had to already move scheduled meetings. After introductions by the COO of Hope Hospital, the general contractor project foreman informs you that the materials needed for the floor reinforcement for the new MRI and the installation company are scheduled to arrive one week earlier that anticipated (six weeks from current date). If they are unable to start when they arrive, they will sit idle until they move to another similar job that could take 5-6 weeks then possibly come back to your project (based on their ability to shift other jobs to free up needed resources). The MRI manufacturer will only install on specific material and the ‘flooring team’ is one of only three the manufacturer authorizes to reinforce and install the specific flooring and are fully scheduled with projects at least eight months in advance.
Place three files [Project Charter in .doc or .docx format; Gantt Chart in .xls or .xlsx format; and additional tool in appropriate file format] in the assignment dropbox by 11:55pm on Week 6.
