When analyzing black history, historians often focus on the psychological effects of slavery and racism on black people. But, what do the narratives of Jacobs and Douglass reveal about the negative psychological transformation of their white oppressors, give analysis to both authors’ observations? Frederick Douglass notes his mental evolution of going from a boy to a slave and then from a slave to a man. Give analysis to his process of enslavement and freedom, noting specifically when he became a slave and when he gained freedom?
